Hybrids Wins Big at Siggraph!
Hybrids, a graduation CGI film directed by Florian Brauch, Matthieu Pujol, Kim Tailhades, Yohan Thireau, and Romain Thirion, just won SIGGRAPH, an Oscar-qualifying festival. Hybrids previously screened at WeWork in Dumbo Heights for ANNY’s April Animation screening, as well as at the re-screen the week after at the Gutter bar in Williamsburg.
“It’s always a thrill to see continued success of our filmmakers,” said ANNY director Yvonne Grzenkowicz. She remembered the film as “an action packed adventure with a thread of cultural commentary on cruelty and adaptation”.
Hybrids is in competition at ANNY Best of Fest 2018 that is happening this coming October 6-7 at 180 Maiden Lane in the Seaport District of NYC. We will soon find out if the film is shortlisted. This judges for this year’s Best of Fest include Cartoon Saloon co-founder Paul Young, cinematographer Jonathan Marlow, Academy award winning animator Jonna Quinn, and ASIFA-East President Katie Copper Klein.
